SUTHINK successfully represents its client to claim for remedy of RMB 600,000 in a case of copyright infringement

    SUTHINK recently accepted the authority from Liu Shoujun and Beijing World Publishing Corporation and, with full exertion of the advantages as a professional copyright agency, successfully represented them in the case ofLiu Shoujun and Beijing World Publishing Corporation (the Plaintiff) vs. China Archives Publishing House, Li Jiangping and Beijing English-Chinese Yongxin Culture Development Company Limited(the Defendant) , which involves the infringement of the copyright of New Weekly Reading Programs (English: 2nd Sem. HS Grade 1; 2nd Sem. HS Grade 2).
    It’s known from Mr. He Cheng who acts as attorney on behalf of the plaintiffs in this case that, without acquiring the permission from the copyright owner of New Weekly Reading Programs (English: 2nd Sem. HS Grade 1; 2nd Sem. HS Grade 2), the three defendants as aforesaid plagiarized more than 100 articles in the books and reproduced the special format of the books, and therefore is suspicious of infringing the copyright of the plaintiffs.    
    In order to protect the legal rights of the plaintiffs, the attorney collected in all respects the evidences for proving the copyright ownership of, and exclusive publishing right enjoyed by, the plaintiffs in respect of its works, the evidences for proving the copyright infringement conducted by the defendants, and the evidences for proving the loss and damage incurred by the plaintiffs due to the infringement of the defendants. The attorney also compared the works of the plaintiffs and the disputed works of the defendants sentence by sentence to determine the plagiarized amount of Chinese characters and the ratio of plagiarism, and finally claims on behalf of the plaintiffs for remedy of more than RMB 600,000.  
    The case was heard in Beijing No.1 Intermediate People’s Court and now is waiting for the announcement of judgment.
